Oprah Winfrey-

Oprah Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on January 29th, 1954.  In 1976, she moved to Baltimore where she hosted the TV talk show, People are talking.  She was later recruited by a Chicago TV station to host her own morning show.  In 1836, Oprah’s own Harpo Inc. was established and also the famous Oprah Winfrey Show entered national syndication.  By 1997, Oprah was named Newsweek’s most important person in Books and Media.  However her accomplishment with with starting a new charity in 1998 is what makes this remarkable woman a true heroin.  Oprah established Oprah’s Angel Network in which she supports women, children, and family with empowerment and educational initiatives.  Oprah's Angel Network gives $6 million in grants to U.S. charter schools. Oprah's Angel Network has also built 300 new homes for displaced Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims. Oprah has given countless hours and money to her charity. Oprah has explored new ground for charity. She has broken through the barriers of her race and because one of the first to have accomplished so much at such a young age. Oprah has touched so many people's lives and started new charities and programs that benefit so many people and that's what makes her a true heroin.
