Martha Graham was the creator of a new dance company -The Martha Graham Dance Company-. It was there, that she made extraordinary breakthroughs not only through dancing, but through challenging socially and politically controversial conflicts of her time. Martha employed some of the first African-American dancers of any dance company. Her most important accomplishment gave her the name "Mother of Modern Dance" because she revolutionized the dance world and rekindled the spark in world's interest for dance. The company she began did not contain ballet, this made it very unusual but intriguing. She made performances into social commentary- pointing out issues or her views of society. Not only did she use dance as an outlet to change peoples views, she spoke at assemblies about topics like the holocaust. Over all, her impacts on the world involve both her advancements of dance and her comments or actions on current happenings.
