SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN |
Srinivasa Ramanujan was as Indian mathematician who without formal training in mathematics made an extraordinary contribution to the mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fraction. We must be proud of him because living in India; he rediscovered known theorems in addition to producing new work as it was already discovered in Europe at that time. He did this work when India was not so well connected with the rest of the world. He was appreciated by GH Hardy, a great mathematician for his original his work as he felt that Ramanujan did equally well as Euler and Gauss. Without having access to the larger mathematical community and living in India, which was counted as one of the remotest countries, he proved himself to be a great mathematical personality and learner. The year 2012 was celebrated as the year of Mathematics as homage to this simple yet splendid mathematician. He was a true hero in making India proud because of his great works.
